FAQ’s – Synthetic Hair Pieces/Wigs/Buns/Ponytails

Clip-In Hair Extensions

Q. What are clip-in hair extensions?

A. Clip-In extensions are easy to attach to your own hair without using any long term bonding, glue or weaving and won’t cause any damage to your own hair. They can change your look instantly by adding volume and length to it without having the huge bill from the hairdressers. They can come in one or multiple wefts (pieces) with many different lengths.

Q. What are the synthetic extensions made out of?

A. Synthetic fibers.

Q. How are clip-in hair extensions attached to my hair?

A. They will have 4/3/5 (depending on the extensions) small snap on clips along the weft of hair that you just snap onto the root of your hair.

 Q. How long do the extensions take to put in?

A. On your first attempt they may take a little longer to put in but once you have practice they will take a matter of minutes.

Q. I’m worried the extensions are going to fall out or the clips will be seen!

A. The clips have a secure grip onto your hair and are small so they are extremely easy to hide.

Half-Head Wig

Q. What is the difference between a normal wig and a 1/2 head wig?

A. Everyone has their own view and opinion on what they think a half-head wig is. It is different to a standard wig as all of your hair is hidden by the wig, you blend your own hair at the front into it. You attach the 1/2 head wig just in front of the crown and also at the nape of the neck. Once secure you’ll blend your own hair and fringe into it to hide it.

Q. How do I attach my half-head wig?

A. Firstly pin your own hair back leaving the hair around your face and your fringe. Then hold the weave at the top of your head, slide the top comb in and secure it (Just like placing a headband onto your head). Pull the hair piece over the back of your head and secure the bottom comb ideally at the nape of the neck. It should feel secure, if it doesn’t adjust it until it does. Brush your own hair back to conceal your weave and add any desired finishing touches. Alternatively you could add a headband to conceal the join.

Q. I’m worried that my 1/2 head wig isn’t secure enough and is going to fall out!

A. 1/2 Head Wigs are a lot less fidly than putting in multiple hair extensions, not to mention it takes a lot less time. The flexi-grips are more secure than people think, if you want something extra just to secure it then backcomb the root a little so the flexi-clips have something to grip onto.

Q. I’m worried that the hairpiece won’t fit around my head!

A. All the hairpieces are fitted with an internal mesh cap which is 21.5″/55cm (in circumference). This size is slightly smaller than the average size of a head however due to the mesh cap being elasticated it is able to fit a larger head. The hairpiece contains clip adjusters at the nape of the neck, this can give a more safe and secure fit and means it can be sized to fit anyone’s head. Simply move the clip adjusters  towards the label in the centre of the nape panel to tighten the base of the wig.

Q. My half-head wig is listed as reversible. How can I achieve the second look?

A. It’s extremely simple to achieve the second look when you know how to! The half-head wigs have a lace wig underlay with two flexi-combs attached to the top and bottom. You need to turn the wig upside down from the bottom clips. This creates a completely different look!

Q.What’s the difference from a standard 1/2 Head Wig and a volumising one?

A. 1/2 Head Wigs are A LOT less fidly than putting in multiple hair extensions, not to mention it takes a lot less time. The flexi-grips are more secure than people think, if you want a little something extra to secure it then backcomb the root a little so the flexi-clips have something to grip onto.

Q. How do i look after my half head wig?

1) Brush the wig from root to tip ensuring all the tangles and knots are out

2) Mix water (roughly about 25 Degrees) with shampoo in a sink/basin and then immerse the hairpiece. Gently immerse the hair and let it soak for round about two minutes

3) With cold water gently rinse the hairpiece until all of the shampoo is removed

4) Refill the sink/basin with lukewarm water and add a little bit of fabric conditioner. Allow the hairpiece to soak for 10 minutes

5) After 10 minutes rinse the conditioner out with cold water

6) Once all the conditioner has gone wrap your hairpiece in a towel and gently pat out any excess water. DO NOT twist or brush the hair whilst still wet!

7) Whilst still slightly damp style it however is desired and then leave to air dry (On a wig stand is preferred but not essential)

Q. Which style would suit me?

A.If you’ve never bought a half-head wig before it can be quite a daunting task trying to find a style which is going to suit you. So here is your guide to help you pick which one is going to suit your face shape best: http://goo.gl/J1NT8B
Q. Can I cut my half-head wig?

A.On occasions hairpieces may be slightly too long for you or may need a little trim to make the hairpiece  suit your face shape. Unless you are a professional hairdresser we wouldn’t advise you to try cutting it yourself, they will be able to advise you on what will suit your face shape and what will look good with the style of wig that you have purchased.
Q. Can they be straightened or curled?

A. The 1/2 head wigs are made out of synthetic fibers and not real human hair. Synthetic hair ideally shouldn’t have any heat on them however some sellers will say to keep the hair appliances on a very low heat (Up to 120c). You don’t want to risk burning or melting the hair fibers. We cannot guarantee results or be held responsible if the extensions are damaged.
